Vice Locals Discord bot
Bot Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
This policy explains what data the Vice Locals Discord bot (“the bot”) processes when it is added to a Discord server or used there. For the website itself see our privacy policy.
1. Who is responsible
The bot is operated by Niklas Schreckling. Full contact details are in the legal notice (Impressum); please contact us that way for any privacy question or request.
2. What we store
When a server admin adds the bot and uses /setup, we store only:
- the server (guild) ID and the server name,
- the channel IDs and optional ping role IDs the admin chose for news, patch notes and server status,
- the chosen language (English, German or both),
- the Discord user ID of the admin who last ran
/setup(to trace changes), - the ID of the bot’s own status message and a short delivery log (message IDs, error codes such as “missing permissions”) so we can retry, edit or stop posting.
We do not store messages, member lists or roles of your server (except support ticket transcripts on the official server, see 3a). The bot ignores messages and member events on servers other than the official Vice Locals server and does no moderation or logging there. Roles on your server never affect anything on Vice Locals.
3. /localpass and /rank
When someone uses /localpass or /rank, Discord sends us that person’s Discord user ID (and the user ID of a member they ask about). We use it only to look up whether a Vice Locals account with a Local Pass is linked to that ID and to show the pass, rank and points. These lookups are read-only and are not stored. Another member’s pass is only shown if they made it public.
3a. Support tickets
If you open a support ticket on the official Vice Locals Discord server, we store your Discord user ID and username, the subject, description and optional server name you entered, the ticket status and timestamps, and who handled it. When the ticket is closed, a text transcript of the ticket channel is saved for the team and sent to you by DM (if your DMs are open). Transcripts and ticket data are kept for 30 days for support purposes and then deleted automatically.
4. Purpose and legal basis
We process this data only to deliver the bot’s features you asked for – posting Vice Locals news, GTA 6 patch notes and the live status into the chosen channels and answering commands (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
5. How long we keep it
Server settings are kept while the bot is on your server. They are deleted automatically when the bot is removed from the server, or immediately with /setup off. Delivery logs are deleted after 30 days at the latest.
6. Sharing
We never sell data and don’t share it with third parties, and we use it for no advertising or tracking. Messages are delivered through Discord (Discord Inc., USA), whose own privacy policy applies. Our server is hosted in the EU.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Server admins can delete their server’s data at any time with /setup off or by removing the bot.
8. Fan project
Vice Locals is an unofficial fan project and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive or Discord. Grand Theft Auto, GTA and related marks belong to their respective owners.
